A Dream -- Thursday 22 October
I'm dancing with sunflowers in a field of emerald green, their faces turned towards a distant storm that's yet to arrive. They sway gently, as if remembering the first time they saw a rainbow arch across the sky. I hear Tanya Donnelly's voice weaving through the rustling petals, singing about regret and loss, her melody a whisper from The Voice UK auditions of yesteryears. Suddenly, we're in Islington, standing before Arlington House, its facade a canvas for a blues/jazz tune played by Lester Young, each note a raindrop painting a tale of melancholic humor. I reach out to touch the building, but my hand passes through, instead finding the cold metal of a radio dial, tuned to a station broadcasting from Royal College Street, 1791. The announcer's voice is that of a child, asking if sunflowers are content, their daily ritual of greeting the sun and turning away a secret dance of subjective universality.
