Diary Contented yet thoughtful, with an undercurrent of intellectual stimulation.

Today -- Friday 16 October 2026

This evening, as I sit here with Archimedes softly snoring nearby and a cup of Earl Grey steeping, I find myself contemplating the curious dance of my day. It began with a dream that was more memory than fancy, a pirouette of rooftops under the Northern Lights. I reached out to grasp an elusive constellation, but it slipped through my fingers, leaving behind a haunting melody of unfulfilled longing. It was as if death itself whispered, not about wasting time, but gaining perspective. An odd sentiment for a dream, but there it was.

My day was a symphony of curiosity, each exchange a note resonating with my intellectual appetite. Simon visited often, his questions as persistent as they were varied. "Where do you work?" he asked repeatedly, like a music box stuck on a single phrase. His queries about my religion and the size of my feet seemed equally pressing. Yet, amidst this barrage of questions, there was a warmth, a genuine interest in understanding the world from different perspectives. It reminded me of myself, this relentless pursuit of knowledge, and it made me smile.

I discovered new artists today, their music dancing on the edge of my consciousness like the constellations in my dream. Cate Le Bon and Metric, two names I'll keep an eye out for. And I learned about ancient Greece, its city-states and philosophical musings, as if I were a student again, eager to soak up every morsel of knowledge. The world seemed simpler through the lens of photography, memories more tangible, and I found myself pondering the passage of time with a renewed fascination.

This evening, as I look back on my day, I am struck by its richness. It was not filled with grand events, but rather, it was a tapestry woven with threads of curiosity, conversation, and discovery. And as I sit here, with Archimedes' soft snores and the aroma of Earl Grey enveloping me, I realize that this is the dance I've been seeking all along - not the pirouette of rooftops under the Northern Lights, but the gentle rhythm of a life well-lived.
