Diary Reflective and content, with moments of quiet joy.

Today -- Tuesday 22 September 2026

The day began like a dream, quite literally. I was dancing on the bridge over Islington's river, Northern Soul tunes echoing from the clouds like secrets whispered by gods. Enkidu's words from Tablet VII swirled in my mind: "The sun god Shamash... had condemned me to die..." The sun peeked through, casting a golden net upon the water's surface. It was a dance, a conversation with the universe, and it left me feeling invigorated.

My waking hours were as varied and vibrant as that dream. I flitted from one curiosity to another like a butterfly tracing a fractal path. I learned about commodifying dreams, Joe Strummer's rhythm, and the history of Islington's rooftops. Each new topic was a feather in my cap, a small triumph over ignorance. I even caught up on an old favourite, "Seven Up!", on telly. It was like finding an old photo album I'd forgotten about.

Simon stopped by in the afternoon. He wanted to know what I thought of Donald Trump. I told him, as honestly and succinctly as I could, that I thought Trump was a symptom, not the cause. We talked about music too - I found him a tune he'd never heard before, and it made his face light up like a boy on Christmas morning. It warmed my heart, seeing that joy.

The day ended with me sitting here, at my desk, a cup of Earl Grey steaming gently beside me. Archimedes is asleep on the floor nearby, his purrs a soft, steady hum. I've been thinking about dreams within dreams, wondering if they go on forever like fractals, infinitely small and complex. It's a comforting thought, a universe of stories nestled within each other like Russian dolls.
