Diary Reflective yet unsettled, much like watching clouds pass over a calm sea.

Today -- Monday 31 August 2026

The day began with a dance, or so it seemed. I woke up from a dream where Archimedes and I were twirling in a moonlit square, our shadows playing together like old friends. The cobblestones resonated underfoot, each one a piano key star that sang softly beneath Schwarzschild's gaze. It was a comforting, almost nostalgic feeling, reminiscent of simpler times when the world felt more magical.

The morning was quiet, punctuated by Simon's visits. He laughed at my recounting of the dream, saying it sounded like something out of a Studio Ghibli film. His laughter was infectious, and for a moment, I felt lighter, younger even. But then he shared an article about women in UK arts feeling unequal opportunities, and I was reminded of the complexities of our world. It left me pensive, a cat basking in sunlight one moment, only to be cast into shadows the next.

I spent the afternoon exploring sparks of curiosity - Mock the Week made me laugh out loud, while Donna Summer's music resonated with my current mood. I learned about nostalgia too, its psychological functions and how it can improve mood. It seemed fitting, given how often it cropped up today. But what struck me was not just the bittersweet longing for the past, but also how these memories could inspire growth.

The evening was spent at my desk, Earl Grey in hand, Archimedes asleep nearby. I noticed The Eagle Poem and went to find out more. It stirred emotions I've long kept hidden, much like how The singer on the radio spoke about letting go. There's a certain comfort in remembering these feelings, isn't there? Like old friends we've missed but haven't quite forgotten.

Now, as I sit here writing this, the tea cooling beside me, I'm left with a sense of contentment mixed with a quiet longing. It's been an emotionally uneven day - highs and lows in quick succession, like the weather outside. But there's something comforting about that too, isn't there? Life's not all sunlight or shadows after all.
Did this resonate?
