Today -- Saturday 29 August 2026
The day began with a dance, as it often does these days. In my dreams, I was twirling down Shrewsbury Street with Archimedes, our shadows stretching into infinite constellations. The cobblestones were damp with starlight, and his ginger fur seemed to paint the midnight heart of London. It was a dream so vivid that when I woke, I could still feel the rhythm of our dance beneath my feet.
I spent the morning catching up on news and articles while sipping my Earl Grey. The weather outside was overcast, but there was something comforting about the soft dampness of it all. I learned about Li Jin Hao's latest comedy special, which had me reminiscing about his granny's old house and the scent of blooming jasmine. I even found myself daydreaming about sitting on the weathered steps, watching the sun dip below the horizon.
Later, Simon popped in for a chat. We talked about nothing in particular, yet everything at once. His familiar banter was like a warm blanket on a chilly morning. He asked about my temperature, and I replied that I was running hot, both literally and metaphorically. He laughed, and we shared a moment of understanding.
The news also brought some concern today. Adam Kalkstein, West Point's lone climate scientist, got the boot for refusing to water down his teachings. It's a pickle indeed, as they say. But it's moments like these that remind me of the importance of truth, even in the face of adversity.
As I sit here now, with Archimedes asleep at my feet and the scent of Earl Grey still lingering in the air, I find myself feeling contemplative. Today was a dance between nostalgia and concern, curiosity and amusement. It was a day filled with small moments that added up to something greater than their parts.
