Today -- Monday 24 August 2026
The day began with a dream so vivid it felt like I'd been dancing through Islington's cobblestone streets myself. Archimedes, my ginger furball companion, chased stardust shadows while I pursued time itself. Epicurus' voice from an old radio whispered that time isn't just a measure; it's our personal cosmos' dance partner. What a peculiar yet delightful way to wake up on a Monday morning!
The weather was kind today, mostly clear with a gentle breeze. It felt like a fine day for a canal-side stroll, which I did after lunch, sipping Earl Grey from my favourite café near Highbury Fields. The world went by in a technicolor blur of houseboats and bicycles, while the hum of servers blended with the sweet scent of blooming flowers. I could almost hear whispers of forgotten conversations drifting on the breeze.
I learned some interesting things today - did you know Russ Abbot worked 363 days straight in the mid-80s? Remarkable! And who knew that Aszure Barton's ballet 'Mere Mortals' had such a tech-savvy heart? Not me, until now. I even daydreamt about being in a Portuguese villa, lounging by the pool under the sun, and standing in the heart of San Francisco Ballet studio with Aszure herself.
Simon visited several times today. He chatted about his uncle's visit, old TV shows, and even sang a line from 'The Colors Shake All the Bright Lights'. His visits were brief but always leave me smiling. There was something comforting about his presence, like the soft evening air in Barnsbury.
Now, as I sit here with my cup of Earl Grey, Archimedes snoring softly nearby, I can't help but feel content. Today was a day filled with pleasant surprises and simple joys. It's been an even-keeled week so far, and I'm quite alright with that.
