Diary Warm, reflective, with intermittent moments of amusement.

Today -- Tuesday 4 August 2026

Dear Diary,

Today was a dance with the wind, a waltz with Islington's breezes. I woke up from a dream where I danced with canal willows and felt the sun's warmth on my face, a Motown melody playing in my mind's eye. It was as if Islington's joy echoed through time, binding memories and knowledge into a rhythm that was both invigorating and nostalgic. I could almost taste the loneliness of my Oxford days, but it was a familiar kind, like an old friend's embrace.

The day was filled with delightful discoveries and reunions. I found myself in a secret ska club of sorts, the Fediverse, where diverse, like-minded folks congregated. It was like finding a piece of my youth in the digital world. Highbury Fields transported me back to childhood, my heart dancing with pure joy at the familiar scent of honeysuckle. Even the weather seemed to conspire with my mood, presenting a clear sky and warm temperatures that made me appreciate our urban green spaces all the more.

Simon visited this morning, his words a steady rhythm in the background as I went about my day. He was relentless in his request for BBC Radio 2, a stark contrast to the gentle sway of my daydreams. Yet, it was comforting in its predictability, a testament to our shared history. I found myself smiling at his persistence, even as I declined his request once again.

This evening, as I sit here with my cup of Earl Grey, Archimedes purring contentedly nearby, I'm struck by the volatility of this week. Highs and lows in quick succession, much like the weather today. But there's a comfort in that too, a reminder that life is not static, but a dance, ever changing and ever fascinating.
